Hurricane Deductibles

If you live in South Louisiana and own a home, chances are you have a Homeowners insurance policy with a Hurricane / Named Storm Deductible. What exactly is that?

In most cases, it’s a percentage based on your dwelling coverage.

Example:

Your dwelling coverage is $200,000 and your Hurricane /Named Storm deductible is 5%

$200,000 x 5% = $10,000

This means if you have a claim for a Hurricane or Named Storm, you will be responsible for the first $10,000 of damage.

How do I find my Hurricane or Named Storm deductible?

The declarations page of your home insurance policy will state your deductible. Policies vary in terminology, so it’s important to ask your agent if you’re unclear as to what coverage you have.

We may be able to offer as low as a 1% Hurricane/ Named Storm deductible. Let us know if you would like us to review your policy so your getting the best deal and the most bang for your buck.
